Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar is set to miss the 12th round of the 2026 Formula 1 season after getting a wrist injury. Liam Lawson has been confirmed as his replacement for this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix.
The 21 year old Frenchman, who is in his debut season with the Milton Keynes-based team, sustained the injury during the summer break. It is believed that Hadjar picked it up during a training session involving a sandbag, as part of his regular boxing regime.
A statement released by Red Bull on Wednesday confirmed that Isack would not be taking part in the weekends racing.
“Oracle Red Bull Racing driver Isack Hadjar has sustained a wrist injury during the summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix.
Replacing Hadjar in the RB22 at Zandvoort this weekend is the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson. The New Zealand born driver will be returning to drive alongside four time world champion Max Verstappen in the Red Bull senior team despite the fact he was abruptly dropped just two races into the 2025 season.
With a vacant seat at VCARB , reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda will drive alongside British rookie Arvid Lindblad during this weekend’s fifth sprint race weekend of the season.
Red Bull also wished Hadjar a speedy recovery, adding: “The team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam for stepping in on short notice.”
Hadjar has enjoyed a strong campaign so far in a seat that has long been regarded as one of the most difficult on the F1 grid. He currently sits eighth in the Drivers’ Championship, just 41 points behind teammate Verstappen in sixth.
With the Italian Grand Prix at Monza scheduled for September 4–6, Hadjar will have two weeks to recover from the injury.
The Frenchman will be hoping to return to the cockpit in time to maintain the momentum he has built during his debut season with Red Bull.
