Charles Leclerc has ended months of speculation over his future by signing a new multi-year contract extension with Ferrari, reaffirming his commitment to the iconic Italian team as it continues its pursuit of Formula 1 glory.
The announcement, made ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, sees the Monegasque driver remain at Maranello for what Ferrari described as the “coming seasons”. While the exact length of the agreement has not been disclosed, the deal represents a significant vote of confidence from both parties as Formula 1 enters a new era of technical regulations.
Leclerc, who joined Ferrari in 2019 after graduating through the team’s driver academy, has become one of the Scuderia’s most recognisable figures. Since arriving at the team, he has claimed eight Grand Prix victories and established himself as one of the fastest drivers on the grid. He is now Ferrari’s second-most experienced Formula 1 driver and ranks second only to Michael Schumacher for pole positions with the team.
Speaking after the announcement, Leclerc expressed his delight at extending his stay with the team he has supported since childhood.
“I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP,” Leclerc said.
The 28-year-old added that Ferrari has become much more than simply an employer, describing the team as a second family and reiterating his ambition to bring a world championship back to Maranello.
Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur welcomed the agreement, describing it as a natural continuation of a relationship that has developed over many years.
“Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now and this renewal feels like something very natural for us,” Vasseur said.
Vasseur also praised Leclerc’s development both as a driver and as a leader within the organisation, highlighting his commitment to Ferrari’s long-term project.
The extension arrives at a crucial moment for Ferrari. Despite flashes of competitiveness in recent seasons, the Scuderia has not celebrated a Drivers’ Championship since Kimi Räikkönen’s triumph in 2007. Leclerc remains determined to end that drought and believes the team’s future remains bright.
Currently sitting third in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship standings, Leclerc continues to be regarded as the cornerstone of Ferrari’s ambitions. With Lewis Hamilton alongside him and sweeping regulation changes on the horizon, Ferrari will hope this renewed partnership can finally deliver the success both driver and team have long craved.
For Ferrari supporters around the world, the message is clear: Charles Leclerc is staying, and the dream of returning championship glory to the Prancing Horse remains very much alive.
