The ‘Iceman’ Kimi Raikkonen is officially returning to racing with PROJECT91 and will make his NASCAR Cup debut later this year.
Since retiring from F1 at the end of last year, the Finn has been allusive on what his motorsport future might hold. However, the 2007 F1 World Champion has now confirmed that he will drive the No.91 Chevrolet Camaro in a road race at Watkins Glenn on August 21st.
Kimi becomes the first driver to join PROJECT91’s racing programme, which is designed to showcase the talent of racers from across the planet.
He has given reasons for his return in a statement released earlier on Thursday, only a few days before the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix; “I wasn’t looking to race again, but Justin Marks (Founder and Owner of PROJECT91) came to my home in Switzerland and convinced me how serious he was… “
I am sure I speak for the vast majority of Formula 1 fans when I say I will be glad to see Kimi back behind a wheel.
