Last season was the most successful year for the McLaren Formula One team in nearly three decades since Mika Hakkinen won both the constructors and drivers titles back in 1998. 27 years later McLaren’s golden boy Lando Norris brought both trophies back to Woking after a stunning finish in Abu Dhabi last year winning his first and Mclaren’s tenth title.
To celebrate this victory, the road car division of McLaren has unveiled (another) special edition limited variant McLaren Artura Spider. The Artura MCL39 Championship Edition.
Based on the regular Artura Spider the MCL39 Edition shares the same mid engine rear wheel drive layout with the new V6 hybrid powertrain producing 690 horsepower and a sub 3 second sprint from 0-60
The car features hand painted Myan Orange stripes over Onyx Black paintwork which feature across the doors, bonnet and rear of the car as well as a number ten on the front fender.
Step inside the butterfly doors to see both Lando and Piastri’s signature on the carbon fiber door sills alongside the tracks at which they achieved poles, fastest laps and wins. On the headrests the number ten is featured again with an orange stripe at the top of the steering wheel and orange piping through the cockpit.
The car will be limited to just ten examples with prices as yet not revealed though are likely to be well in excess of the already eye watering £220k, although this does include what is described as “a tailored opportunity to experience the McLaren brand and the legacy of McLaren Racing’s 10th Constructors’ title” however it isn’t clarified what this entails.
