The 2025 Sao Paulo GP Sprint Qualifying results saw Lando Norris top the timesheets at Interlagos, claiming pole position ahead of Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli, with Oscar Piastri third fastest, and lining up behind his teammate.
The Brit’s flying lap of 1:09.243 was sufficient to put him at the top of the timesheets, ahead of Mercedes’ rising star Antonelli, while Oscar Piastri completed the top three, just 0.185s adrift.
The result continues Norris’s fine form, having taken the lead of the Formula 1 World Championship from his McLaren teammate after victory in Mexico City two weeks ago.
It was a near-perfect session for the Papaya team, who managed to occupy the first and third positions on the grid for Saturday’s Sprint race, setting up yet another direct showdown between their two title contenders. Between the McLarens and Verstappen came George Russell in fourth and Fernando Alonso in fifth, both within a quarter of a second of pole.
Behind them, Lance Stroll produced one of his best qualifying efforts of the year in seventh for Aston Martin, ahead of Charles Leclerc in eighth for Ferrari. Isack Hadjar once again impressed for Racing Bulls, securing ninth place and another top-10 start on a Sprint weekend. Nico Hulkenberg rounded out the top ten for Sauber, continuing the Swiss outfit’s improved form.
