2025 Dutch Grand Prix Review – By Joe Murphy
The 2025 Dutch Grand Prix was a thrilling spectacle that lived up to the Circuit Zandvoort’s reputation as a revered Formula 1 venue. Oscar Piastri delivered a masterclass performance, converting pole position into a commanding victory that bolstered his championship lead. Piastri’s seventh win of the season saw him extend his advantage over Lando Norris to 34 points, despite Norris’ teammate suffering a dramatic retirement due to a mechanical failure.
Max Verstappen, racing in front of his home crowd, managed to secure second place, while Isack Hadjar stunned with a career-best third-place finish, crossing the line 3.2 seconds behind Verstappen. Ferrari’s weekend, however, was one to forget, with Charles Leclerc crashing out and Lewis Hamilton failing to finish, dealing a significant blow to their championship aspirations.
The race was marked by several incidents, including a collision between Leclerc and Kimi Antonelli, which resulted in both drivers receiving penalties. Antonelli was given a 10-second penalty for causing the collision and a further five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Piastri’s win was deserved. He controlled the race from pole position and set the fastest lap. Moreover, McLaren’s dominance was evident, with Piastri and Norris leading the charge. Meanwhile, Hadjar’s impressive performance marked a significant milestone in his Formula 1 career.
