With the 2025 Formula One summer break now concluding, the series now goes to the last two races in Europe, starting with a very classic circuit at Zandvoort, in the Netherlands, for the Dutch Grand Prix.
This small, but updated track used to be a regular venue from 1948 until 1985, but was finally taken off the calendar, only for it to be renovated and updated in 2021, thanks to the popularity by its home driver, Max Verstappen, which made it return to the schedule.
Drivers will have to contest this circuit for 72 laps, which the track itself is situated on the northwest shore of the North Sea, near the town of Haarlem, for this resort town has two main factors that the drivers will have to go up against, and this is the wind, which comes off the ocean and causes the circuit, which is built mainly on sand dunes, to blow sand , which could land inside the engines. But this is a small issue, and the drivers will have to contest more than this, as the track also has a feature of two baking turns, at turn three, and just before the start/finish line. This was done when the track was rebuilt for formula one standards.
Coming into this race, the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris will continue their battle, which will go on as long as the season remains with ten rounds to go. But there is still Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who really needs to continue with more success at this, his home circuit, to challenge this duo, who have dominated with a few exceptions. Norris himself won last season, with Verstappen finishing in second. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took third, which is beginning to be a regular feature for the Monegasque.
The main feature of this race are the grandstands, which will be full of orange shirts, that of course, will be rooting for Verstappen, and in addition has very high-speed corners, both right and left, which can make passing a chance for the drivers. But unfortunately, Norris took pole as well as victory, which since this circuit was back on schedule, has happened every single race for each winner.
With the race coming up this weekend, it is going to be the next to last race at this venue as next season, the grand prix will no longer renew their contract, which will now give many other circuits the chance to join in hosting a race.
Thanks Mark!
