BREAKING – Verstappen RACE BAN ESCALATION

By Joe Murphy

Max Verstappen’s recent collision with George Russell in the Spanish Grand Prix has resulted in a precarious situation for the Red Bull driver. A 10-second time penalty, coupled with three penalty points on his superlicense, has elevated the stakes for the upcoming Canadian and Austrian Grands Prix.

With a total of 11 penalty points accumulated over the past 12 months, Verstappen is perilously close to triggering an automatic one-race ban, which would be enforced if he were to accumulate 12 points within the same timeframe. Given the expiration dates of his existing points, Verstappen must exercise extreme caution in the forthcoming races to avoid further penalties.

The next two Grands Prix, in Canada (June 15) and Austria (June 29), are particularly crucial, as any additional penalty points could jeopardize Verstappen’s participation in a subsequent race. Even after June 30, when some of his current points will expire, Verstappen will still be carrying a substantial number of penalty points, necessitating continued vigilance.

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner acknowledged the challenging situation, emphasizing the importance of Verstappen avoiding any further incidents that could exacerbate the penalty points situation. “You can never guarantee anything,” Horner noted. “He’s just got to keep his nose clean in the next couple of races.” With his superlicense under scrutiny, Verstappen’s on-track behavior will be subject to intense examination in the coming weeks.
