By Joe Murphy

Hours away from taking to the track in Australia for the third Grand Prix of the season, Max Verstappen has confirmed he is definitely staying at Red Bull until his contract runs out in 2028. He even left the door open to extend this stay, with the words “at least”.

There had been doubts cast over the long term future of the Dutchman at the team, following a rocky start to the season fog the track which has seen the Christian Horner scandal dominate the headlines. In contrast, on the track Red Bull have been near perfect and Verstappen himself has two wins from two.

On Thursday morning, the current World Champion confirmed his intentions to stay at Red Bull for at least the next five seasons. It is a partnership that has yielded so much success already, so will come as little surprise to the majority of fans.

Other teams were said to be interested in the Dutchman but Verstappen said he remains very happy with Red Bull and has had assurances given to him that have enabled him to commit his long term future with the constructor.
