Carlos Sainz is expected to make a full recovery and will return to Formula 1 this weekend for the Australian Grand Prix. Having missed the most previous race recovering from successful appendix surgery, he is set to be passed as fit and healthy enough to make the Grand Prix on Sunday, which means there’s no room for Oliver Bearman to add to his tally of points.
The British teenager Oliver Bearman remains on standby in case Sainz takes a turn for the worse. He is in Melbourne anyway for his own F2 commitments.
It was reported Wednesday afternoon that Sainz has been included in Ferrari’s official Australian GP media schedule, which has lead to speculation that he is all fine and well. Developments over the course of the evening have seen the confirmation to that the plan is for him to drive during all sessions.
Can he add to his podium from Bahrain or will some time away from the sport prove his downfall? Time will tell and we will have answers to these questions in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday morning (UK time). For most fans across the world, the debate is between staying up or waking up super early.
