All the on-the-track talk this week has been centred around one man, Oliver Bearman. The teenager took to F1 like a duck to water and claimed an impressive P7 in his first ever F1 voyage, gaining four places after an equally impressive qualifying session last Friday.
Now, reports suggest the Brit is eyeing a seat up at anotjer constructor who is powered by Ferrari engines. Haas pair of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg are both our of contract at the end of the season. With both drivers into their thirties, a source close to the team indicated that the American oourdot may to youth for inspiration. Bearman would therefore be the perfect candidate.
It may only have been a single Grand Prix, by the demonstrated to worldwide audiences that he can hang with the best of them, matching Leclerc at times across practice and qualifying sessions. Moreover, to be on the brink of Q3 with mere hours notice, would cause normal people problems. But the talented Bearman excelled where others would struggle to thrive.
Like Liam Lawson last season, the young Brit has had one hell of an interview for a future F1 seat. What’s more, Ferrari know they do indeed have a reserve driver they can count on, should the situation arise again. It is yet to be confirmed whether Bearman would remain in the seat for the upcoming Australian Grand Prix or whether Carlos Sainz would be returning from his appendix surgery.
News of this nature is expected in the coming days.
