Williams car revealed, set to challenge for podiums?

By Joe Murphy

Williams have officially become the third constructor to show the world the livery of their cars that they hope will be more competitive than the team has been over the last decade. The launch, taking place yesterday from New York, showed darker tones of the now iconic Royal Blue with black outlines throughout.

After the previous reveals from McLaren and Haas, it was the turn of our first blue car that supposedly reconnects with Williams’ championship-winning heritage when their cars used to dominate the field. There is optimism that this car will be seen at the front of the grid too.

Williams also took the opportunity to announce a new multi-year partnership with company Komatsu. This isn’t the first time the two have struck a deal. The two previously came together famously during the 1980s and 1990s, when Williams won races and championships on the regular.

Former Mercedes man James Vowles was brought in as Team Principal a year ago, with the sole intentions of improving from 10th in the constructors championship, something the team have done well. Although, they must continue the upwards trend or risk a regression. Last year, they finished 7th.

Alex Albon will drive Williams for a third year in a row whilst Logan Sargeant retained his seat following an underwhelming debut year.

Vowles said in a statement: “It is a significant milestone to unveil the 2024 livery… to claim seventh in the Constructors’ Championship (last season), meant a great deal for everyone involved. We’ve also shown the world that we’re building the foundations for moving forward.”

Quite whether the future will be bright or not will start to be answered in a matter of weeks time when the season officially gets underway.
