Andretti’s bid to become Formula 1’s 11th team from the years 2025 or 2026 has been rejected by the F1 hierarchy. The American team’s bid lead by former McLaren driver Michael Andretti and his had previously been successful in its initial stages. Back in October of last year, all signs were positive when the FIA indicated their consent.
But F1 had the final say and after over half a year of review, the submission has announced that Andretti’s application has not passed the final test for entry. Therefore, there will be no extra team on the grid from 2026 onwards, as it stands. However, it has been reported that 2028 remains on the table. The current F1 Teams did not reject the addition of a new constructor. Instead, it is understood the decision came from above.
