Red Bull have made some key marquee signings ahead of the start of the 2024 season. As part of a shift amongst the sister team, the company have opted to go for a veteran of the grid.
The recently rebranded Visa Cash App RB squad, formerly AlphaTauri, have gonr through an extensive raft of changes in both the branding and management side of things.
After the retirement of Franz Tost, the team lost their Team Principal. It has now been confirmed that Peter Bayer has taken over as CEO, while Laurent Mekies departed rivals Ferrari to return to Faenza as team boss.
The second Red Bull team has also revealed the signature of Alan Permane as racing director after he left Alpine midway through the 2023 season, at the same time as Otmar Szafnauer.
The aforementioned Permane will be in charge of all engineering operations. Heaving spent over three decades with the Alpine team in all their previous guises, he was also sporting director for over 10 years at the time of termination last summer.
“After a few months of downtime, it’s great to return to racing again with the Visa Cash App RB team,” Permane said.
These moves are sure to awns shock waves through the racing community. It’s a major statement of intent from the former Toro Rosso, as they look to improve on their lowly eighth place finish in the previous campaign. As to whether this benefits the Red Bull franchise more widely, is up for debate as present. It certainly can’t hurt for the sister team to progress in this way.
