Charles Leclerc committed his long term future to Ferrari, with some media outlets detailing a possible contract extension of up to five additional seasons, although this has not been confirmed by Ferrari themselves. Within 24 hours, Lando Norris also tied himself down to his current outfit by signing a new deal with McLaren that ‘goes beyond 2025’.
The Futures of both men were never really in doubt, it is just whether Lando in particular wanted a more competitive and fresh challenge in the coming seasons. However, both drivers have come forward saying their plan is to win the World Title with their current teams, as supposed to anywhere else.
Questions now turn to who could replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes if the British veteran is to retire in the not-so-distant future. Focus also goes to drivers such as Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen, Carlos Sainz and others as to where their long term future lies. Will Alex Albon similarly commit to Williams as his friends have done. Time will tell as the first testing sessions fast approach.
What is for sure is that these two aforementioned drivers are the focal point of their respective teams and both are more then capable of being future world champions.
