Why Kevin Magnussen is the most underrated driver in F1…

By Joe Murphy

Kevin Magnussen is a highly talented driver, but it appears that only after a break out of the sport, are fans truly recognising the talent of the man.

The reputation of crashing into people, not helped by Leclerc’s comments labelling the Dane as “stupid”, played a part in the removal of K-Mag in favour of Nikita Mazepin. In one of the sport’s worst ever calls, this was rectified less than a year later and Magnussen has since gone on to achieve more relative success in the Haas, most notably a first ever pole position for them.

Somebody doesn’t make it to Formula 1 without being any good. They certainly don’t stay in F1 for as long as he has without having some accidents, but also without being considered as one of this current generations greatest. As far as underrated goes, you could fairly attribute that label to the Dane at this point without much backlash.

Whilst a world title may be a tad optimistic, one more podium in his career would be a lovely spectacle, although this probably applies to his current teammate even more. For this, he’s going to need a lot of things to fall in his favour, but we’ve seen more surprising things happen in this magnificent sport we call Formula 1.
