Back in 2022, when Wheel2Wheel Reports was in its infancy, we posted an article comparing that current F1 ‘roster’ to the Premier League line-up at the time. Now, with a slight concept alteration, it’s time for an update. If F1 Teams were Premier League Teams, the 2024 edition.
Red Bull – Manchester City
A fairly obvious one to start with, isn’t it? A dominant force last year that nobody could stop. Although not unbeaten, won everything there is to win pretty much and set records on the way. Will anyone catch up going forward?
Mercedes – Liverpool
Were big in the eighties, went away for a while, then became good around 2014. Yeah, sounds about right. Whilst Liverpool haven’t quite enjoyed the longevity of success the Silver Arrows have mustered, they are always a threat. Last year wasn’t a good one for them, but expect them to be right on the leaders tail again this year. Both also have an energetic and iconic leader at the wheel.

Ferrari – Arsenal
Unbeatable back in the day but these days, only the occasional win to cheer about, and that never lasts for long. Their fans are also quite funny. Passionate, but funny. Always overestimating the current team to standards of the glory days. Think they are competitive but aren’t really.
McLaren – Aston Villa
Used to be a megapower but lost all their shine and went to a place where they were actually pretty rubbish. Now though, in 2024, they are right up there and it’s genuinely good to see them battling it out week in, week out, with the top teams. Probably won’t win anything, but it’s nice to dream.
Aston Martin – Newcastle
Here comes the money! The honour and prestige of the name cannot be understated. However, they have gone through a significant rebrand over the last couple of years. They were competitive last year when nobody thought they would be. In fact, there were concerns they would be out of business a matter of annums ago. But with the wonder if money they have become a force again, after a long, long time away form the spotlight. Struggling at times as of late, but will surely fly again when they recover from some minor setbacks.
Alfa Romeo – Manchester United
Whilst Alfa don’t quite get the hate that United do, there are still clear parallels to be seen. At the moment, performances haven’t matched the name, history and honour of this team. A name that rings success and style all over the world hasn’t looked like itself in a matter of years, aside from some smaller successful results and the start of 2023. A big rebrand and new owners the start of something new?
Alpine – Brighton
Nobody had ever heard of them a few years ago, now they hang with the elite. Will never be a true force to be reckoned with, especially with top teams poaching their best talent like at the beginning of last season. Some new investment recently could help them towards a strong finish, relative for their not-so lofty expectations, of course.

Williams – Chelsea
Both teams have spent money, and opted for youth, as well as a nice little blue livery. Results are inconsistent and they are miles off where they used to be when domination was the name of the game. But a young and talented line-up could reap its rewards, even if an American influence isn’t the most helpful.
Alpha Tauri – Crystal Palace
Results have been poor and despite bringing back an old face, it hasn’t really worked out. For too long a feeder system to the teams above, now the team needs to find it’s own identity. Seem to always start a season well then fade away as the year goes on.
Haas – Sheffield United
Both currently sit rock bottom of the league and have also just got rid of their boss. They could be in trouble if results don’t pick up and sharpish. Have never been a major force but we’re far more successful years ago than they are now. The answer is surely a lot more investment to keep up with the rest of the pack.
