Toyota Gazoo Racing claimed its 23rd front-row lockout in the FIA World Endurance Championship yesterday while Brendon Hartley took his 5th pole since 2021.
Hartley bested Kamui Kobayashi by almost half a second, with both on the same medium tyre compound.
Meanwhile, it was Iron Dames’ driver Sarah Bovy who earned the 24th pole for Porsche in the GTE-Am class. Significantly, it ensured that the manufacturer’s GTE-Am haul earned by customer teams eclipsed the 23 pole positions earned by its factory GTE-Pro operation.
Peugeot managed to equal it’s Fuji qualifying result of 10th and 11th. Elsewhere, there was considerably less good fortune about Mueller’s run after being curtailed by what Finot described as a software glitch with the steering.
It will certainly be a fascinating watch, and one we will keep our eyes fixed on, around the F1 action in Sao Paulo later this afternoon.
