Driver OUT of Singapore Grand Prix…

By Joe Murphy

Lance Stroll and Aston Martin have confirmed that the Canadian will not race in Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix, following an enormous crash in Q1 on Saturday.

Lance was in last place so was pushing hard to make it into Q2 when he suffered a snap of oversteer after driving over the unforgiving kerbs at the final corner, sending the car straight into the barriers at over 150mph.

Naturally, the car suffered significant damage. However, the Canadian managed to leave the wreck unaided, only suffering minor injuries.

However, on Sunday morning, the team said Stroll was still feeling the effects of the crash and the decision was made that it is better for him to miss this race, with the hope of making a full recovery in time for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Aston Martin released a statement, just hours prior to light out:

“The team face a huge job repairing the car today and understandably Lance is still sore following such a high impact. Lance’s focus now shifts to fully recovering ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.”
