Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will continue as Mercedes’ driver line-up until at least the end of the 2025 season. Hamilton has signed a contract extension that will extend his period with the team to over thirteen years and keep him in the sport well past his 40th birthday, something Fernando Alonso knows all too well about. His teammate, who joined Mercedes in 2022, has also signed a two-year deal to keep this partnership continuing.
For Hamilton specifically, this means he has more chances to go for an eighth world drivers’ title, and also the opportunity to extend and break some more records in this strand of motorsport.
Hamilton has continually confirmed his commitment to the team and he claims to want stay in a relationship with Mercedes long after he retires from active driving duty. He announced he was pleased to get clarification over his future, with speculation rife over the last year. Moreover, he maintains he is hungrier than ever.
