Max Verstappen has been undeniable so far this season. His victories have been consistent and comprehensive to such a degree, some believe the championship may be over already. And you know what? They are probably right.
Verstappen alone would be leading the Constructors Championship which is a daunting fact. However, as we’ve seen throughout history, winning runs always come to an end. Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel have all done it, and it’s likely to happen this weekend.
Firstly, there’s Sergio Perez. With his seat potentially under threat, pressure isounting on the Mexican and he owes his fans and team alike a strong performance at Silverstone.
Then there Ferrari, an improved Mercedes (for this race particularly) and Aston Martin, any of which could lose a threat to Verstappen on this demanding track.
With every win, the next one becomes less likely. A bit of bad luck, bad strategy or timing with the weather could leave the door open for any of the aforementioned teams to take advantage. Despite recent trends, it’s likely than Verstappen won’t win the Grand Prix this Sunday.
Only time will tell.
