Toto Wolff and Christian Horner were among the team principals entering 10 Downing Street this week.

Two days after the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix, where an ominous looking Max Verstappen won his fifth race in a row to extend his lead at in the championship, eyes immediately cast the the British Grand Prix from Silverstone this weekend.

The major part of discussions was the financial importance of the motorsport industry to the UK going forward.

The standalone British Grand Prix a generates over £100 million for the surrounding area. Moreover, the Motorsport industry employs nearly 50,000 people in the UK, while the British-based F1 teams are reported to invest an estimated £1bn into R&D each year. In other words, it’s quite important!

As well as Team bosses, Sky Sports commentator and former driver Martin Brundle was part of the meeting as was British racing legend Damon Hill and friend of the channel; David Croft.

One notable plea from the discussions was to avoid protesting on the track, a request later reinforced by Lewis Hamilton. 2022 saw a delayed start after intruders entered the track on the formation lap.
