Former F1 world champion Mario Andretti has had thoughts regarding a potential driver line-up, in the event the Andretti Global bid to join the F1 grid gets the green light as expected.
The team recently broke ground on a new $200million headquarters with Andretti Jr revealing his “hope” that a deal was close to being sealed for a season in the not too distant future.
Turning attention to a potential driver line-up for the tean, Andretti revealed that; “one of the drivers who 99 per cent would be in the team is Colton Herta, but he would need someone with more experience alongside him.”

Question marks then over who would partner Herta in this scenario. Would they break the bank to secure a Lewis Hamilton? Could they appeal to a sidelined Sebastian Vettel or Daniel Ricciardo? Perhaps GOATIFI gets a miracle and returns to the sport. Although probably not the last one. What about going for a returning Grosjean or even someone like Kimi Raikkonen. Even Nico Hulkenburg should his stint at Haas not last very long. Heck, even Logan Sergeant may be an experienced driver by this point, with the added bonus of being American also.
All of these names are of course just rumours for now, with Australian Ricciardo looking like the most likely outcome, should he still be on the bench behind Sergio Perez in a year or two.
