Piastri NOT racing for Alpine in 2023, Daniel Ricciardo in sudden contention!

In a monumental twist, Oscar Piastri will NOT be racing for Alpine in 2023. After an agreement was announced earlier today, the man himself took to social media to quash the rumours and, in fact, go as far to outright state that he will not be taking the seat with the team.

The statement read: “I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.”

Quite why he rejected the chance to race for the French team remains to be seen. There’s a possibility he thinks a spot at McLaren could be on the cards, although Daniel Ricciardo does appear to be contracted until the end of the next campaign.

Whether the younger Australian ends up at another team, time will tell. It appears as if it won’t be the team he is currently reserve driver for! Hulkenberg, Chadwick, or Grosjean? Who knows Huge drama in the summer break!
