Bernie Ecclestone, the former Formula One boss, will be charged with fraud by false representation following an HMRC investigation into his overseas assets believed to be worth more than £400 million. The Crown Prosecution Service announced the news lunchtime on Monday, a day after the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix.
After a complex and deep investigation that looked into possible criminal infringements, the CPS has authorised a charge against Eccleston of fraud by false representation in respect of his failure to declare to HMRC the existence of assets held overseas.
