As of Saturday morning, Haas have announced that Haas’ partnership with Nikita Mazepin has come to an abrupt end. As a result of the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine which has escalated in recent days, the Constructor has severed all ties with sponsor Uralkali and their Russian Driver.
The statement, sourced from Haas’ social media platforms themselves, reads as follows:
It is a move that many saw coming, with critics claiming that the American team had little choice in dolling the trends if various countries and businesses, around the world. Some will say Mazepin is a sacrificial lamb for his father’s contacts whilst others will claim this decision to be the correct one. In truth, the Russian Driver never really felt like he belonged in the top level that is Formula 1.
It is expected, as reported earlier in the week by Wheel2Wheel Reports, that young Pietro Fittipaldi will now be the one to line up alongside Mick Schumacher, when the lights go out in only a matter of weeks time.
